Erlan is an annual holy festival, dedicated to renewing the life-giving powers of the Shil-ah’tet.

A great feast and carnival is held at the mouth of the well. All citizens of Kahliahl participate.

The weakest of the tribes youth and those too elderly to take care of themselves are sacrificed by the city’s Great Priest and current avatar of Shil’Kah. They are pierced with a ceremonial spear, said to be carved from one of Shil’Kah’s great teeth, and flung into the waters of the well below.

Those who are sacrificed willingly are remembered with great respect, for their life force gives meaning to their existence by providing further sustenance for the tribe.
